Gateway To Host Busch Silver Celebration 250 presented by Shop ‘n Save

The race is in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Busch Beer’s support of NASCAR. As in previous years, the race will feature plenty of activities surrounding the weekend’s events.

On Saturday night, July 29, the Busch Silver Celebration 250 race will run on the Gateway 1.25-mile oval. The race features another all-star lineup including Columbia, Mo. native Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, St. Louis natives Kenny and Mike Wallace, Steve Wallace (son of Rusty Wallace), and 2005 Gateway race winner Reed Sorenson. The Green Flag will drop at 7:15 PM.

Following the race will be a spectacular fireworks show compliments of Dobbs/Cooper Tires and the return of country music superstar Travis Tritt, who will play a post-race concert on the front-stretch of the track compliments of TR Hughes Home Builders. Fans will once again be allowed on the track for the show.

Many other promotions will accompany the Busch Silver Celebration including an area at the racetrack that will take fans back to 1982 when the NASCAR Busch Series began. Former Busch Series Champs from the early days will be on-hand along with classic cars and memorabilia. There will be Rubik’s Cubes and Pac Man games as well as musical and fashion tributes to the early days when the legendary Dale Earnhardt won the first-ever NASCAR Busch Series event. Gateway will also develop special video tributes to each of its past nine race winners as part of the track’s "Turnin’ 10" season.

On Friday, July 28 there will be a NASCAR Busch Series Happy Hour practice from 6:15-7:45 PM. The Shop ‘n Save 150 ARCA RE/MAX Series race follows at 8 PM. The race will feature Steve Wallace as he runs double duty over the weekend.

On Thursday evening, July 27 along the Mississippi River at the Casino Queen, the Second Annual Busch Series "ON TOUR" concert returns. The event will include a concert by Blues Traveler and a unique question & answer and autograph session with NASCAR Busch Series drivers participating in the weekend’s race. The event is sponsored by Busch Beer, KSHE 95, 93.7 The Bull and the Casino Queen. Admission is a donation to Special Olympics.

Charter Communications will once again sponsor the "Charter Qualifying" on Saturday afternoon as well as Charter Racing Vision, which features an enormous video screen that will be set up on the frontstretch.

Fans are encouraged to take the Metro link to the Emerson Park station and ride a shuttle to the track for a per person round-trip fee. Fans can also park 'n ride at Emerson Park in the auxiliary lot.

The race schedule for the Busch Silver Celebration 250 presented by Shop 'n Save has been designed to limit traffic woes. Parking gates open at 8:30 AM while facility gates open at 9:30 AM for fans to watch the morning practice from 10-11:00 AM. "Charter Qualifying" will begin at 3:35 PM, with the Race at 7:15 PM, and the post-race fireworks and concert. Gateway will open all parking areas including the Red Lot on the driving range of the neighboring golf course.
